Cross Country meet at Albion

Here are a few pictures I took at the CC Meet at Albion. Some of you will recognize the site. It's privately owned, but they were nice to let the meet take place. They were in the middle of putting in a sprinkler system, so there were trenches all over the place, and it was really dry. Gretchen placed second, Emily was fourth, and Cordell was fourth for the boys. Emily had a heartbreak at the end--a girl passed her about five feet from the finish line!

Emily's first medal

At the Oakley cross-country meet, Emily came in second behind Gretchen Hale.  She was so excited because instead of handing out ribbons, they gave medals for the top three finishers for junior high girls and boys.

For those of you who care, we have two girls and one boy on the junior high cross country team, and they all consistently are placing in the top five.  The boy is Cordell Whittle.

Potato Gleaning

Today we went to a potato field and gleaned potatoes with Grandma, Aunt Sarah, and cousins.

Rowan found a great potato, but we left it in Grandma's suburban. I'll get a picture tomorrow.

It's hard to tell from the way he's holding it, but this potato is almost 12 inches long.

They had lots of fun and picked up lots of potatoes, most of which were yucky, but hey, gotta start somewhere, right?
